Healing After Trauma- Getting Through the Aftermath

This topic is  available for continuing education programs and certified by State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage
& Family Therapist Board for 3 CE Clock Hours.

  • GOAL: Participants will better understand the healing process and learn specific techniques​ they can utilize to help their clients

  • METHODS: Lecture, Handouts, Power Point Presentation, Case Presentation, Bibliography

  • INTENDED AUDIENCE: This workshop is intended for all levels of practitioners who seek to better understand the healing process after trauma. Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists will receive 3 hours of CEU’s.

  • OBJECTIVES:

    • ​​Participants will be able to describe the phases of healing after trauma

    • Participants will be able to describe specific techniques to implement with clients who have experienced trauma

    • Participants will be able to describe how to rebuild self-esteem

Trauma

Embrace: Loving My True Self

Many people grow up doubting if they are good enough. This holds them back from success in
their career, relationships, and personal goals. Improving self-esteem can take away those
limits and create the freedom to be themselves and make their life what they want it to be. This
event will provide valuable tips on starting that journey.

Participants will learn:

  • Why we develop low self-esteem

  • When conditional love is healthy

  • Why accepting compliments is important

  • How to start identifying who they are

  • How to affirm strengths while acknowledging weaknesses

Anita is a mental health therapist who has served many people who need help recognizing their value and worth. She has also experienced negative things in her life that have impacted her self-esteem and had to learn how to embrace her worth and accept her flaws. There is freedom in self-love and she would like to pass along knowledge and techniques that work!

Everyone has a need to love and be loved. Unfortunately being head over heels can turn into resentment or loneliness. Many relationships suffer and deteriorate for numerous reasons,
ending in heartbreak and divorce. Trying to find the right person is hard. Whether you are looking for your first love, or starting over and wanting to do it right, this event will provide you with some valuable tips on looking for a lasting, healthy relationship!

  • Specific ways to know if they're ready to date after divorce/breakup

  • Safe ways to navigate online dating

  • The 5 areas of compatibility that will show if they are a good match with someone

  • What to do when the head and the heart don't agree

  • Techniques to keep love alive over time

● Why not speaking up is hindering relationships
● How to identify passive, aggressive, passive-aggressive, and assertive communication
● Skills for setting healthy boundaries
● How to improve confidence in communication
